Position Summary/Objective
This role provides leadership for retail building materials, contractor services, estimating support, inventory management, pricing, customer service, and staff performance while supporting members, contractors, and the surrounding community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to the following: Estimating and Takeoffs
Assess architectural and structural drawings to provide accurate material estimates and quantity takeoffs for residential/commercial/ag projects, prepares quotes/orders in support of customers and contractors to ensure efficient and profitable project execution.
Customer Service and Support
Promote products and services that support residential, agricultural, and commercial building projects.
Develops and maintains strong business relationships with contractors.
Performs on-site inspections to assess project specifics in collaboration with clients and contractors.
Manages efficient utilization of vendor websites to assist with estimating and material ordering.
Builds and maintains strong vendor relationships, stays informed on available stock and special-order products, and coordinates both stock and special-order purchases with vendors.
Possesses in-depth understanding of lumber market trends, enabling well-informed pricing decisions.
Resolves damaged product issues with customers and/or vendors.
Location Supervision
Oversees day-to-day operations of the Farm and Home Building Center.
Provides sales counter and design center support as needed.
Performs all supervisory responsibilities for employees of the Farm and Home Building Center.
Operations
Direct and coordinate daily operations of the Farm & Home Building Center, including sales floor, lumberyard, inventory, and customer service functions.
Coordinates vendor pickups for products that are not directly shipped.
Manages product delivery schedule for yard staff.
Establishes and monitors retail pricing based on cost and market conditions.
Oversees yard inventory reorder levels and places vendor orders.
Assists with Farm and Home Building Center operations as needed.
Ensure that work area, equipment, and vehicles are all neat, clean, and well maintained.
Oversee sales floor showroom and displays.
Collaborates with Location Manager for staffing to achieve optimum location operations performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's (construction management, business, or related field) preferred.
3-7+ years of experience in: Lumberyard, building materials, or construction industry and estimating (residential and/or light commercial projects)
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
Perform material takeoffs and cost estimates
Must have up to date knowledge of building products, product performance, and pricing.
Ability to build client connections and ensure satisfaction.
Understand and plan for the time it takes to complete certain service projects.
Must have strong organizational skills and prioritize duties when multi-tasking.
Must be able to interact and effectively communicate with customers and individuals at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software, including Outlook, Excel, and Outlook Calendar.

Receives freight and maintains accurate records of products received maintained.
Organizes stock and merchandise within the retail store & warehouse by properly unboxing and storing goods in their designated location.
Identify low stock items and report them to supervisor.
Organizes and sorts items on shelves, bins, and overhangs according to company standards.
Reliably retrieves items from within the warehouse to be processed and shipped.
Properly packs items to be shipped according to company standards to ensure they arrive in excellent condition.
General Housekeeping
Ensure work areas are neat, clean, and well maintained.
As designated by supervisor, maintain cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
Maintains cleanliness of store equipment to promote a positive company image.
Use all tools and equipment carefully for their intended use.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Able to work indoors and outdoors.
Must possess a valid Driver's License
Ability to lift over 50 pounds, as warehouse items may be cumbersome and heavy.
People skills are essential, as working as a team is vital to maintaining an organized warehouse.
Computer skills for data entry of merchandise record keeping.

Assist in the repairs, construction, and general maintenance of a broad range of grain, fertilizer, and agronomy equipment in existing facilities as well as capital improvement projects in a safe and effective manner.

Must be licensed and insurable to drive. Travel between locations is required.
One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with a good mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work in all types of environments, including but not limited to elevated areas (heights), dusty conditions, various weather conditions (hot to cold).
Understanding of the time commitments of the role throughout the year, as well as the seasonality of the farm supply business and the in-season time commitment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
